PETALUMA, Calif. - On the heels of winning the IGSA Classic Luge World Championship, Andy Lally looks to defend his 2009 Rolex 24 At Daytona title as he and Kevin Buckler begin a sixth season of GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 racing together - continuing their relationship as the longest-running GT driver/owner combination in the 10-year history of the series.
Buckler signed Lally to run full time in the Rolex Series for The Racer's Group (TRG) and is poised for another championship run. The duo's joint efforts brought the driver, team and manufacturer's championship in 2006 - an unprecedented accomplishment.
"I've known Andy for a long time and I've always been so impressed with his talent and determination on the track," Buckler said. "Andy and I are a great team and we've seen a lot of success together in the past and I know there are tremendous things ahead as TRG returns to Daytona to defend its title."
The three-time GRAND-AM Rolex Series Champion will begin the 2010 season as the only driver to win a Rolex Series race at each track on the schedule. Currently ranked third on the all-time win list in the Rolex Series, Lally has the most podium finishes in series history and will be making his 100th start this year.
In addition to his GRAND-AM experience with TRG, Lally has also competed in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series under the TRG Motorsports banner.
"I'm very happy to continue with TRG and TRG Motorsports. I love the diverse racing that is offered under one roof here and I have built a relationship with Kevin, Debra and the team that grows stronger every year," Lally said. "From the GRAND-AM racing to NASCAR racing I've been fortunate to work with great people and I look forward to another successful year in 2010."
Lally and TRG will return to Daytona International Speedway on Jan. 30 for the 2010 Rolex 24 At Daytona.
