Lally Races Interstate Moving Services Ford to 26th at Richmond
Richmond, VA, (April 30, 2011) - Andy Lally drove the TRG Motorsports No. 71 Interstate Moving Services Ford Fusion to a 26th place finish in tonight's running of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Crown Royal presents the Matthew and Daniel Hansen 400 at Richmond International Raceway (RIR).
Lally started the No. 71 Interstate Moving Services Ford Fusion from the 21st row. The rookie in the series and at Richmond was able steer clear of the short track mayhem and finish with a strong points scoring 26th place tonight.
"My first Richmond race was very memorable," Lally said. "We were able to get a good finish here tonight. I had some pretty wild moments out there. We did some good racing with a car that really worked well over the long runs, which we had tonight. We had some close calls. Four of the wrecks were right in front of me. The incident with the 13 car was just a couple of feet away. I had a good time. We have advanced the program and that's what I feel the best about after tonight. We were able to beat the next three guys in front of us in points and that is important.
I had some issues with a pulsating brake pedal. It would really pulse at entry. They were better at the end than they were at the beginning. When I would go to the brakes it just shook the car. We will add that to the notebook and get ready for Darlington."
Kevin Buckler, team owner, is proud of the way Lally progressed this weekend.
"Andy did a great job tonight," Buckler said. "He was able to stay out of the wrecks, drive the car with a brake issue, and stay with a ton of the really experienced guys. I think he showed a lot of poise tonight taking what the car and track gave him and turned into a strong points paying finish. We had a couple of issues in the pits, one time the car went dark and we had to push start him. He also did a good job all weekend working with the team to get the car right for the race. We made really small adjustments in the race. We had a great turnout from our sponsor Interstate Moving Services. So it was a good weekend all around for us."
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will travel to Darlington Raceway for the Showtime 400 to be run Saturday evening, May 7.
